Less paperwork for producers, faster pay for screenwriters

As the IPA expanded in complexity and remittance volumes grew, WGC needed PRES to become the primary, mandatory tool for all producers. The old system’s reliance on batch XML imports, manual corrections, and overnight syncing slowed operations and strained staff resources. More importantly, it left too much room for error in the calculation and collection of member dues, retirement contributions, and insurance payments. Rebuilding PRES was a strategic priority: it would safeguard the integrity of collective agreements, reduce operational friction, and deliver a friendlier, more secure experience for producers and Guild administrators alike.

Therefore led a full-scale redesign of PRES, starting with stakeholder and technical interviews to map challenges and future requirements. A hybrid Drupal + ReactJS architecture was chosen to combine robust content management with a modern, responsive UI. Custom modules were developed to handle bespoke IPA calculations and workflows, supported by API integration strategies to securely connect with WGC’s internal databases. Key enhancements included role-based access, real-time validation to reduce errors at the point of entry, immutable financial snapshots at every workflow transition, role-aware dashboards for faster resolution of exceptions and reporting re-engineered for performance with filter-first queries and targeted CSV exports.
