In this week's all-company AI briefing, we invited our Partners - Sanity - to discuss the role of AI in effective content operations.
Chris LaRocque, a Senior Solutions Architect from Sanity, began by explaining that Sanity is not just a headless Content Management System (CMS), but a broader "content operating system." This means it supports not only content storage and website publishing but also enhances the entire content lifecycle, from ideation through authoring to multi-channel delivery.
A key feature highlighted was "Canvas," an AI-powered writing environment similar to popular tools like Google Docs but integrated deeply with Sanity’s system. Canvas acts as a smart assistant that works alongside authors, helping generate content based on user prompts and maintaining context such as brand tone and style through “Notes.”
Another important capability demonstrated was "AI Assist," a feature within Sanity’s CMS that allows users to run AI-driven tasks, such as generating blog posts, auto-tagging content for SEO, or translating documents into multiple languages.
Chris also shared exciting developments in workflow automation through "Agent Actions." For example, once content is published, a set of AI-powered automated processes can translate the content into various languages or perform other post-publishing tasks without manual intervention. This scalability is particularly valuable for businesses operating internationally or managing large volumes of content.
The standout point was the introduction of Sanity’s MCP server tool, which allows businesses to migrate large amounts of existing content from other CMS platforms like WordPress or Contentful into Sanity. This AI-powered migration tool drastically simplifies what is often a notoriously difficult, time-consuming, and costly process.
Looking to the future, Sanity is developing more advanced AI tools integrated directly into its dashboard. These tools function like chatbots, enabling users to interact with their content more dynamically - searching, editing, or managing content through simple conversational commands.
